Dr. Bosilevac has been practicing Veterinary Medicine since 1991 and is the owner of Best Care Pet Hospital. He enjoys all facets of Veterinary Medicine and is our primary provider of care for exotic and avian pets. He enjoys spending his time with his family and golfing.
Dr. Howard has been with Best Care Pet Hospital since 1994. He graduated from Kansas State University and is a loyal Wildcats fan. He practices general medicine and enjoys seeing a variety of patients. His family includes his wife, 2 children, and 2 cats, Teddy Totts and PeeWee.
Dr. Brunssen grew up in south central Kansas. She received her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science Industry from Kansas State University and worked 8 years for the USDA ,during which time she transferred to Omaha. She went on to receive her DVM from Iowa State University in 1991 and returned to practice veterinary medicine in Omaha. She joined the Best Care team in 2015. Dr. Brunssen enjoys all areas of small animal medicine and finds it very rewarding to be able to partner with owners in providing the best possible health care for their pet family. Her spare time is usually spent working on a variety of knitting projects and enjoying family time with her husband and daughter and their two dogs, Mac and Sancho.
Deborah J. Appleby DVM (aka Dr. Debbie) is the talented blogger of our veterinary team. She has been a veterinarian in Omaha for 15 years. Under the tutelage of many clients, patients and her special needs son, she has achieved a supreme sense of empathy and compassion. She is pictured in one of her signature printed scrub sets with her beloved beagle, Mackey. Not pictured are her incredible husband, Bill, and her 3 work-in-progress children: Neil, Eric and Vivien.
Dr. Rifer is a 2016 graduate of the University of Nebraska – Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Science as well as a 2021 graduate of the University of Nebraska – Lincoln/Iowa State University Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine. She is originally from a little town in Northeast Nebraska called Verdigre. She loves learning, interacting with others, solving problems, and she has a strong sense of compassion. Dr. Rifer enjoys being able to serve her community as a veterinarian through the promotion of both public and animal health, and especially through the enhancement of the human-animal bond between her clients and patients. Additionally, she is currently a Fear-Free Level 3 Certified Veterinary Professional, a Fear-Free Avian Certified Veterinary Professional, and has completed the Human-Animal Bond Certification Program by the NAVC and the HABRI. Dr. Rifer is a self-proclaimed “Crazy Cocker Spaniel Mom,” and currently has three rescued Cockers of her own: Violet, Sage, and Comet. She also shares her life with her significant other, Zack, three ferrets (Oliver, Penelope, and Nash) as well as two bunnies (Piccolo and Zucchini). Just as all her pets are rescued, Dr. Rifer is an animal rescue advocate, and she enjoys helping pets of all species along their journey by fostering them until they find their forever homes.
